Has Santorum Run Out of Flavor?

Tomorrow is Super Tuesday, the day 10 different states will hold their primaries and caucuses to determine who will be allotted the grandest prize yet -- 419 delegates are up for grabs.

By all accounts, the race to watch is in Ohio where 63 delegates are at stake.  A win in Ohio would be a game changer for either of the front runners Romney or Santorum. (Although it is worth mentioning that according to the media apparently every state has been a "must-win" for the Romney campaign...and even the states he wins, are not game changing enough).

Rick Santorum has been enjoying a double digit lead in Ohio.  That is until last week.  He has watched his lead all but evaporate and now his numbers are actually declining.  Never a good trend a few days before an election.  Momentum is definitely on Romney's side.

Latest polls show the race in Ohio is virtually tied and way too close to predict.  A new Quinnipac poll shows Romney leading by 3 points 34 to 31 percent.  An American Research Group poll shows Romney leading 35 to 28 percent.  On the other hand, a Suffolk University poll shows Santorum leading 37 to 33 percent while a CNN/Time/ORC puts Romney and Santorum at 32 percent each.

The national polls have also taken an interesting swing in Romney's favor where according to today's Gallup Poll, Mitt Romney has overcome a 10 point deficit and is now sitting at 38 percent--his highest numbers to date.

For two weeks, it appeared Rick Santorum was the "flavor of the week."  I think these trends show that his "flavor" is fading.

Tomorrow will be an interesting day.  I am hopeful that the people of Ohio and elsewhere will support Mitt Romney.  I firmly believe that he is the right candidate for this very specific job--restoring our country to prosperity and returning integrity and accountability to our federal government.  I watched him do it in Massachusetts and I know he can do it again.

Mitt Romney is a professional problem solver.  He has made a career out of making weak things stronger, turning the nearly bankrupt into prosperous and thriving institutions, and he has continually made fiscally responsible decisions with other people's money.  He is a unique individual with an exemplary resume. The GOP is crazy to overlook it.

I think it is high time to tell politicians to step aside and let a professional do the job.

Go Mitt!!
