An Historic Night

History was made last night.  Despite all the pundits saying that Romney was losing steam, despite all the attacks against his noteworthy career, Mitt Romney won another crucial fight for the White House.

History was made because Mitt Romney was the first Republican candidate since 1976 to win Iowa and New Hampshire.   Perhaps even more noteworthy, Romney was the first non-incumbant Republican to ever win both states.  A remarkable accomplishment.  History was made.

Furthermore, it was a decisive win.  According to poll data, Romney swept nearly every group of voters whether categorized by income, ideology or religion.  He even scored highest among Christian conservatives and tea party backers.

It was a solid win for Romney and it had nothing to do with the fact that he lives in a neighboring state or owns a vacation home in New Hampshire.  People listened to his message and they liked what they heard.  They heard his determination to restore America to greatness.  They examined his detailed and specific plan for fixing our economy.  They heard him and realized that he wasn't just saying things to inspire.  They looked at his record and realized he can actually accomplish what he says.  They voted for Mitt Romney because he is the right leader for these fragile times.

I thought Romney's speech was game changing.  I was in awe of his courage and his ability to remind Americans why this country is remarkable.  It was the first speech he has given where I felt I was listening to a President.

One of my favorite things he said was, "Our campaign is about more than replacing a President; it is about saving the soul of America." (Click here to read the entire speech).

He reminded us of our country's potential.  He reminded us that our country is worth fighting for and that we are a resilient and determined people.  He reminded us that we need a leader who understands that potential and will do everything in his power to help restore America to greatness.  Romney's vision is to restore America to prosperity; not fundamentally change it.  His experience demonstrates that he can.  His determination shows that he will.

He has an extensive career in successfully making weak things stronger.  Now more than ever, America needs Mitt Romney.
